Technical Account Manager

The purpose of the TAM position is to provide our customers with a technically competent advocate with access to all the resources at Microsoft, to advise and consult on the use of Microsoft technology in their particular product or application.
Tasks performed in this role include helping with technology assessments, workshops, prototyping, conducting application design reviews, performance benchmarks, code reviews, porting/migration assistance, configuration management and general development consulting. Key to the success of this role is the ability to develop and maintain strong trust/working relationships with assigned ISV, Enterprise accounts and constantly expanding the working knowledge of current and pre-release Microsoft systems, products, and platforms.

Responsibilities:
The TAM is responsible for understanding the customer’s environment, its technical requirements and fit to Microsoft technologies. The TAM serves as the customer’s persistent Microsoft point of contact throughout the customer’s product development lifecycle. The role is heavily reliant on the TAM possessing excellent customer service skills. The TAM is required to assist the team with quick and efficient resolution of customer’s reactive support needs. The TAM will deliver prescriptive consulting guidance in the form of workshops, reviews, prototypes, white papers, and conclusive test results while setting realistic expectations regarding the capabilities and delivery timeframes of Microsoft technologies. It is vital that the TAM work constantly on keeping up-to-date on new Microsoft technologies relevant to the customer’s particular needs and developing relationships with key Microsoft product group resources. The TAM is expected to maintain a collaborative role with customers. The TAM is expected to provide consulting assistance to peers as project workloads allows. The TAM maintains relationships with Microsoft product managers providing feedback on product requirements and drive Microsoft product feature and functionality requests on behalf of Premier clients.

This role requires outstanding sales and business leaders who want to make an impact.
As a Corporate Accounts Opportunity Manager (OM), you will lead the sales process for strategic / high value opportunities, working with customers and partners and driving deals to closure. Your actions will have immediate results on Microsoft’s revenue, market share and customer & partner satisfaction. Experience of handling and closing large deals is must. Experience of managing the Enterprise Customers and handling Application Sales like ERP, CRM, SAP-HRMS) is must. Experience in Direct/Field Sales is required. Strong Account Management skills are needed.

Your key responsibilities will include:
(Strategy) Strategic Opportunity Sales Plan – proactively drive the planning and orchestration of key strategic opportunities in assigned territories to meet scorecard and revenue goals. This planning will produce an Opportunity Map with prioritized strategies and approaches to focus efforts to achieve operational and sales goals faster.

(Working with Others) Collaboration – taking ownership for driving Microsoft towards trusted advisor status with partners and customers and building relationships with key executives. Fostering relationships internally in Microsoft and externally with partners and customers, coaching internal teams and partners on key Microsoft Strategies including Enterprise Agreement (EA), Enrollment for Application Platform (EAP) and Business Productivity Online Standard Suite (BPOS). Collaborating with internal teams to bring the right strategies to partners and customers.

(Execution) Opportunity Management – Own execution of large opportunities that are valued over $300K USD ($50K USD for emerging markets) or strategic sales efforts in assigned territories through closure for Commercial and Public Sector customers. Ensuring internal and external resources are engaged appropriately, co-selling with partners, and using sales excellence techniques to ensure all opportunities are tracked in pipeline management tools through to closure and conducting win/loss review.

Job Profile
Opportunity Managers engage and own Licensing, Infrastructure and Application Platform Optimization sales efforts during the Develop (20%) through Close (100%) stages of the Microsoft Sales Solution Process (MSSP) for Commercial and Public Sector large or strategic opportunities including BPOS. Opportunity Manager engagement is recommended for opportunities that are valued over $100K USD ($50K USD for emerging markets) or strategically improve Microsoft’s competitive position in the market (e.g., the customer is recognized as a leader in their industry, there is considerable up/cross-sell opportunity or the opportunity would result in a high-profile and recognizable competitive win). In the Public Sector Accounts, planning needs to be done for Education territory engagement, where it exists. OMs might only need to be engaged on key strategic Education CPM accounts based on capacity, this should be agreed to in advance.

When engaged, Opportunity Manager’s takes full ownership of individual opportunities; driving opportunity planning, resourcing and execution in accordance with MSSP with partner and Microsoft resources (PAM, Tele, LSS, SSP, etc.) and ensuring opportunity data is updated in the pipeline management system (Seibel or GSX). Opportunity Managers are leading the Opportunity for Microsoft but should never be competing with partners.

Strategic Opportunity Sales Plan
Drive development of a Strategic Opportunity Sales Plan (SOSP) for assigned territory. This plan will provide Opportunity Manager’s with a prioritized “Opportunity Map” including designated high value opportunities (EA, Select & Renewals) for New and Renew (EA and Select) sales events. Focus on key strategies of: Platform EA, Renewals, BPOS, and EAP.

Focused on the Microsoft product solution value, in the CPM accounts and prioritize within set ratio as defined by subsidiary (recommend ~1:75 opportunities per OM for ~250 CPM accounts). Engage in co-selling and sales support activities with partners and customers for assigned opportunities relating to the solutions customers are interested in. Evangelize Microsoft product roadmap to partners and customers and validate for feedback into Product Teams. Orchestrate partner and Microsoft resources (Tele, LSS, SSP, etc.) to drive opportunities to closure.

Opportunity Management
Own execution of large opportunities in Strategic Opportunity Sales Plan (SOSP) that are valued over $100K USD ($50K USD for emerging markets) or strategic (Platform EA, Renewals, BPOS, EAP, etc.) sales efforts in assigned territories through closure for Commercial and Public Sector customers. Ensure SOSP opportunities are tracked in pipeline management system (Seibel or GSX) and move through to closure with adequate velocity. Set up and manage regular rhythm for pipeline review with key members (ITM, PAM, LSS) of Territory Team Unit (TTU.) and weekly forecast opportunities in the pipeline. Identify actions required by team members to drive revenue and scorecard results. Prioritize opportunities in pipeline for sales execution. Orchestrate movement of opportunities through sales cycle working with various roles – for example, engage with Licensing Sales Specialist for any licensing program questions the customer may have as they are trying to decide on renewing an EA, and with Solution Specialists for deep product expertise. Constantly check and validate customer and partner satisfaction of OM involvement in sales cycle and do win/loss review against every opportunity.

Content is one of the core subsystems in Local Search. Unlike traditional web results, Local results are often served out of a content that comes through structured and semi-structured feeds. We also build and use a combination of technologies that extract entity information from web pages. There’s a huge gap in where we are and where we want to be and we’re looking for smart people to jump into these. We’re also scaling the local search problem globally – going into new markets with interesting content ingestion challenges. There are platform components and tools that will create the roadmap for the next few years, being built right NOW.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Track record of excellence in designing & delivering software that has wow’ed the users
  • Drive planning and product definition in collaboration with product managers and engineers to distill the requirements into a set of E2E experiences.
  • Incorporate and validate customer requirements and feedback into product design.
  • Decompose a strategy/E2E experience into a manageable set of deliverables that span multiple releases.
  • Work with development, test, business leadership and our partner teams to ensure that product meets functional, quality, performance, scalability, privacy, security and usability goals
  • Coach, Lead and manage a highly talented PM team

    Qualification

  • 10+ years of program/project management experience with demonstrable success in designing and shipping large-scale software products; especially within a Software-as-a-Service model
  • 6+ years of solid understanding of online services technologies including ASP.NET/MVC, SQL server, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, CSS, XML, C#/C++.
  • Experience working in fast paced environment.
  • Strong relationship building to develop partnerships across Microsoft divisions
